Sheru (Prototype)

A peaceful underground world.

Sheru is a small prototype for a 2D exploration game, inspired by Metroidvanias. You play as a little shell spider waking up in a strange, peaceful underground world—except something’s not quite right. A firefly mother asks for your help to find her missing children, and from there, you start exploring the glowing, vibrant caves.

🕹️ Gameplay (Prototype Focus)

  • Use a web-swinging mechanic to traverse the caves.

  • Meet characters, find the fireflies, and explore a handcrafted slice of the world.

🎮 Controls (Keyboard & Mouse)

🌊 Visual Style & World

  • Inspired by real-world environments like coral reefs, underwater forests, Tsingy stone formations, and glowing mushrooms.

  • Artistic inspirations include Hollow Knight, Ori, and Avatar.

💡 Note: This is an early prototype showcasing core movement and world-building elements. Feedback is welcome as Sheru continues to grow!

Hello Lancelot,

I really liked the look of Sheru,  and wanted to see if you’d be interested in a small playtest partnered with GameUserResearch. This would be completely free, and we'd collect real gameplay data, feedback, and recorded footage/screenshots/surveys to help refine the experience.

A key focus would be how well players understand the game’s mechanics, whether everything is intuitive, and what could be improved to make the experience clearer and smoother. We’d also analyze engagement, difficulty balance, and overall UX to see if anything could be refined. Additionally, do you have any other games in development that might benefit from structured user testing?

I’d love to help provide early feedback and insights that could shape the game’s direction. Let me know if this sounds useful, I’d be happy to discuss it further!

I recently just completed a playtest if you would like an example!

J'adore !
